Destination Accessible Homes are available for holidays, weekends away and Short Term Respite (STR). In addition to accommodation Destination has a local team of support workers available to provide in home care and individual support as needed.
Short Term Respite Accommodation can be used to give you a break away from home and is available if you have this item in your NDIS plan. It provides you with a different experience and a break in your day to day, it also provides carer’s with an important time out from their caring roles.
STR stays away from home will;
- give you the chance to try new things and develop new skills
- be able to enjoy Geelong & the Bellarines coastal environment.
- help to maintain your current living situation by giving you and your support network a break.
Short Term Respite accommodation can be used if your usual support network is unavailable for a short period.
It can include many options and packages, including;
- Personal care and attendance
- Safe and supported accommodation
- Meals and meal preparation packages
- Activities and Adventures.
All options and packages need to be agreed to with you, the provider and Destination Accessible. This process will be finalised through an agreed and signed Service Agreement.
The NDIS will fund up to 28 days of Short Term Accommodation per year. The funding can be used flexibly.
